The major difference between optical mouse and laser mouse is that optical mouse which emits and senses light to detect the movement of the mouse. On the other hand laser mouse is also a type of optical mouse which detect the movement by its laser light.

Optical Mouse:

First type of mouse which sense and emit light to detect the movement of the mouse. Now a days in the modern computers the optical mouse uses LED. Its an optical sensor which is used to detect the movement of the cursor. In the old mouse a ball was used but now a days that ball was replaced by digital signal processing. The old one uses the movement of the ball and the modern one detects the reflected light.

Laser Mouse:

In this type of mouse laser light detects the movement of cursor. Laser mouse is a type of optical mouse. Laser mouse also uses light instead of the movement of the ball. Laser mouse is more advance than the optical mouse because it is 20 times more accurate than the optical mouse.
