Axon Vs Dendron:
Axon and Dendron are the two major components of a nerve cell. Nerve cells usually have a lot of Dendron while only one axon. The major difference between axon and Dendron is that the function of axon is to carry nerve impulses away from the cell body while on the other hand, the function of Dendron is to carry nerve impulses from the synapses towards the cell body.
Axon refers to a long fiber of a nerve cell that works as a fiber optic cable and carries outgoing messages and information. Basically the neuron sends electrical impulses from the cell body with the help of axon towards different other cells. Every nerve cell has its own axon. In length, axon can reach up to 20 cm which is very long while comparing to other fibers of the human body.
Dendron is a slender projection of a nerve cell and its function is to conduct nerve impulses from synapse towards the cell body. A nerve cell usually has a lot of Dendron. Dendron is shorter in length while comparing to the axon. Dendron is connected to the nervous system of the human body and delivers different messages.
The main difference between Axon and Dendron:
The following are some of the major differences between Axon and Dendron.
- Axon refers to a long thread of a nerve cell which performs the function of carrying away the nerve impulses from the nerve cell to the other part of the human body whereas on the other hand Dendron is short in length while comparing to the axon and performs the function of carrying impulses from synapses to the nerve cell.
- Every nerve cell has its own axon which is very long in length and reaches up to 20 cm while on the other hand dendrite is more than one and is shorter in length.
