Atom Vs Element:
An Atom consists of same number of protons and electrons. An element is a particle which is made up of only one type of atom. For example an element of hydrogen is made up of atoms which contains only one proton and one electron. All matters are made up of tiny particles called Atoms.
Atoms are small particles which makes up ordinary matter. Atoms are made up of tiny particles called protons and neutrons. Protons carry a positive electrical charge whereas neutrons carry a negative electrical charge. Protons and neutrons are present in the nucleus of an atom in a cluster form. All atoms contains same number of protons and neutrons.
Element is tiny particle which is made up of only one type of atom. As the element of hydrogen is made up of atoms which contains only one proton and one electron. If you carefully look the atom of hydrogen you will notice that most of them are without neutrons, some have one neutron while others have two neutrons.
Main differences between Atom and Element:
The following are some of the major differences between Atom and Element.
- Atom is a very small particle of a matter in fact the matter is all made up of Atoms whereas on the other hand Element is a tiny particle of an atom.
- Atom is a bit bigger than an element because atom is made up of same number of protons and neutrons whereas an element is made up only of one particular atom.
- In the Atom the electrons orbit the nucleus whereas in the element same atom have same protons and electrons that orbits around the nucleus.
- All matter is made up of atoms whereas element is made up of only same atoms.
