Difference Between Am and Pm

Am Vs Pm:

Am is short of Ante Meridiem means before midday while Pm is short of Post Meridiem means after midday. Consequently the usage of am/pm for referring midday is wrong. Because the correct terms are 12 noon and 12 midnight, with times in between using am/pm.

Difference Between Am and Pm

Am:

In 12 hours clock the 24 hours of the day is divided into two periods. One is an Am and the other one is Pm. Am is a short of Latin word Ante Meridiem which means before midday. Am and Pm both consists of 12 hours. Starting from 12 which acts as a zero, then 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11. The 24 hours cycle starts from 12 midnight which is indicated as 12am and runs to 12 noon referred to as 12pm. After it Pm starts.

Pm:

Pm is short of Post Meridiem which means After Noon. After am pm starts from 12pm to 12am of night. In the 12 hours clock it is the second period in which the time is divided. Both of the periods have 12 hours of time which completes the total 24 hours day. In 24 hours clock there is no am or pm used. It arises only in 12 hours clock. Once the person get to know about the midday and midnight difference then it is easy for him to differentiate between am and pm.

  • Am stands for Ante Meridiem which means before midday while on the other hand Pm stands for Post Meridiem which means the time which starts after the noon.
  • Am and Pm are the two main divisions in which the total 24 hours of the day is divided in 12 hours clock.
