Agonist Vs Antagonist:
Agonist and Antagonist work in an opposite direction from each other. The major difference between Agonist and Antagonist is that when agonist produces an action antagonist opposes that action. Agonist is basically a substance which combines with a cell receptor to heat up the reaction on the other hand antagonist is a chemical which reduces that reaction which is caused by the agonist.
In pharmacology Agonist and antagonists have a key value. Agonist is basically a substance which combines with a cell receptor to accelerate the reaction for that substance. While Antagonist is that substance that tries to reduce the reaction of that substance.
In general term Antagonist refers to the person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something an adversary. Antagonist is that substance which works in opposite to the agonist in the human body.

- Agonist causes a response with a receptor site while on the other hand Antagonist works against the drug and tries to block that response.
- Agonists are chemicals which helps in altering and binding different functions of the receptors of the activity while on the other hand Antagonists helps in binding receptors but usually do not alter its activity.
- Agonists impersonate the action of neurotransmitter whereas on the other hand antagonists blocks the action of the neurotransmitter.
